The Clydesdale is considered one of the largest horses in the world. As an adult, it stands 160β180 cm tall. Only the Shire and Brabanter horses are even larger.
Clydesdales grow more slowly than other equine breeds. Foals don't reach adulthood at four or five years old, but at seven or eight. At this age, they weigh 1,000 kgβthe same as a small car. They are so strong that they can pull things that weigh much more than themselves. That's why they need large amounts of water and food. They need 20-25 kg of grain with minerals and vitamins and about 50-60 kg of hay every day. And that makes them thirsty, of course. Very thirsty. Clydesdales drink more than 100 liters of water a day.
